IN PICTURES: Lower Great Southern Hockey Association honours Tracey Menegola with life membership at awards

The Lower Great Southern Hockey Association had its night of nights on Saturday, celebrating the fairest and best of the home and away season. Hosted by Griffins at the Albany Surf Life Saving Club, players, coaches, volunteers and supporters were treated to a mammoth buffet, a series of presentations and dancing which went on into the night. One of the participants honoured was Tracey Menegola who was awarded life membership for her unwavering commitment to volunteering. The Mike Stidwell medallist from 2023, Ms Menegola is already a life member of North Albany Hockey Club and was at the forefront of the sport’s campaign for the first synthetic turf in the city. Also among the throng enjoying the festivities was Alice Rule OAM, the first life member of the Albany Women’s Hockey Association and first female life member of the North Albany Football Club. The A-grade women’s best and fairest was Mt Barker’s Renae Parsons while Spencer Park’s David Wareham was voted the best A-grade men’s player. Master of ceremonies Alex Fergie reviewed the season, which is complete bar the grand finals which take place on September 20. He congratulated all the winners and thanked the people behind the scenes which make the competition happen.
