The Albany Business Centre hosted a small business expo last month to mark WA Small Business Day, with more than 50 small business owners setting up stalls for the day.

Small businesses from across the Great Southern operating in industries from food and hospitality to beauty and wellness came along to connect with the community and other small business owners and operators in the region on October 25.

The annual WA Small Business Day asks WA consumers to think about their consumption habits and who they benefit, and to take the opportunity to buy local and support small businesses where they can.

Albany Business Centre executive officer Mark Shenton said more than 650 people turned out to the event across the day despite drizzling rain.

The annual event is now in its fifth year, and Mr Shenton said it was an important contribution to getting small business names out in the community and encouraging people to shop small.
