Christmas is fast approaching — and this is your chance to claim the title of best Christmas lights in Albany.

The Albany Christmas Lights Competition, presented in partnership with the City of Albany, has returned for another year.

As thousands of families get into the festive spirit across our city, the Advertiser team is gearing up for a Christmas lights judging marathon to determine the best of the best.

Last year, it was the Fuentebella family of Lockyer, and the year before that, it was the Stevensons of Gledhow.

For anyone out there who has a passion for making their home light up with Christmas joy, this is your time to shine.

This year, the City of Albany is setting the example with its inaugural Christmas Lights Trail in the CBD.

Mayor Dennis Wellington encouraged residents to get into the spirit of the season at home.

“At the City we believe that Christmas isn’t Christmas without the sparkle of lights,” he said.

“We are excited to partner with the Albany Advertiser to award the best Christmas lights in town once again.

“Christmas lights in Albany are going to be bigger than ever this year with the Christmas Lights Trail along York Street.

“Residents can visit the lights of their suburban streets and head to the CBD to check out some life-size baubles, reindeers and presents.”
