Clark and Schwarzbach on fire to give Albany and Districts Cricket Association B-section CSBP country week win

A useful 46 from Oli Clark and an economical spell of bowling from Jed Schwarzbach, who bagged three scalps, gave Albany and Districts Cricket Association 2 an opening win in B-section of the CSBP country week in Perth on Sunday. The ADCA 2 team beat West Pilbara by 56 runs after setting their opponents a target of 166 in their pool A match at Stevens Reserve. There was good news too for the ADCA 3 side, who were five-wicket winners over Port Hedland in their opening C-section pool B contest, while the side contesting F-section walloped Bunbury and Districts by eight wickets. In round one, ADCA 2 elected to bat, but only Lachlan Otway (17) of the top four made double figures as Dylan Belward, Jed Schwarzbach and Ryan Kinnear all went cheaply. Clark, however, both stabilised the situation and kept the runs ticking over as his 46 came from 54 balls and put his side back in the driving seat. Caleb Haua, who was unbeaten on 21 at the end of the ADCA innings, was the next best with the bat although Angus Thompson chipped in with 19, as did Ryan Davies, and Jack Hastie was just one behind with 18 as ADCA 2 reached 165. Hastie, Haua and Belward combined to remove the West Pilbara top order, with only Patrick Richards showing any resistance. His 35 off 76 balls was the mainstay of the West Pilbara response, but his teammates surrendered cheaply as Jed Schwarzbach finished with 3-21, Belward with 2-15, Hastie with 2-20 and Haua with 2-15. They eventually collapsed for 109. South Midlands B won the other pool A contest, beating Newman B by six wickets. In their second outing on Monday, Ryan Kinnear’s 37 was the best with the bat as ADCA 2 set South Midlands B a target of 204. In pool B of the C-section, ADCA 3 chased down Port Hedland C’s 180 for the loss of just five wickets in their opener. Graeme Weinert, playing his 30th consecutive country week, celebrated the milestone with an unbeaten 64 while Bryce Durack held his own with a fine 54, which included 10 fours as ADCA 3 reached 5-183. Batting first, Port Hedland’s openers had done their bit, putting on 93 for the first wicket but they fell regularly after that. Tarik Hartfield took 4-31 as ADCA took control. Port Hedland were all out for 180. Warren-Blackwood won the other contest in ADCA’s pool, beating Northam C by 39 runs. In Monday’s second-round meeting, ADCA 2 restricted Warren-Blackwood to 155 all out, with Andrew Smith taking 4-21. The ADCA 4 team, playing in F-section, chased down Bunbury and Districts’ disastrous 61, reaching 2-72 in just 15 overs. Jake Schwarzbach took 5-14 and Brendan Girak 3-11 as Bunbury and Districts collapsed, with only their skipper George Papas (19) reaching double figures. Jordan Draper, with 24 off 14 balls, Jeremy Watson (15no) and Darren Grey (17no) saw ADCA 4 home. In their second round contest on Monday, Green Range Ongerup set ADCA 4 a target of 189, with Brendan Girak taking three wickets.
