Art of Books event comes to Narrikup Town Hall promising to be a hub of creative activities for all the family

Narrikup will be abuzz with creativity on Saturday as the annual Art of Books event comes to town.
Hosted at the town hall, and with a marquee to ward off the weather, the event features a host of artistic activities as well as the chance to pick up a good read for as little as $1 at the mega book sale.
Organiser Margaretha Lachmann, of Mt Barker store Lavender Bee, said the event was always a big hit and had something for everyone.
“We have eight or nine artists coming who will be practising and exhibiting in the marquee as well as the famous Narrikup Sports and Community Group’s cafe,” she said.

The event is as much about having a go as it is watching others being creative and among the activities are a junk journalling workshop, where Ms Lachmann will help participants create personalised pages using found and recycled materials.
Artist Andy Dolphin will be conducting an en plein air workshop — unless it rains, in which case it will be inside, she said.
Anyone who wants to learn book folding — a skill which transforms old books into 3D sculptures — can join in, especially after purchasing a $1 item from the mega sale.
There is also a “meet the maker exhibition” which will showcase handcrafted works and unique pieces.
The Art of Books event is at Narrikup Town Hall on April 11 from 9am to 3pm.
