All-hours petrol station, fast food outlet and car wash proposal in Bayonet Head open for public comment

A development application to build a service station with an attached fast-food outlet and ancillary car wash on Lot 70 Stranmore Boulevard in Bayonet Head is open for public comment. The proposal is earmarked for the vacant site at Lot 70 Stranmore Boulevard, abutting the Bayonet Head Early Learning Centre and residential apartments. It details a 300sqm convenience store/petrol station building constructed on the vacant site, with the 90sqm fast food outlet adjoining the frontage. The 71sqm automatic car wash plant would be located at the building’s rear. All three facilities would operate 24/7. A 21-bay carpark and internal road would also be included in the site works. The proposal indicates that the existing bus stop on Stranmore Boulevard before Houghton Boulevard would be relocated to a yet-to-be-decided nearby location. The commercial centre, put forward by developers the Batra Brothers, would serve the rapidly growing suburb in Albany’s north-east. The Bayonet Head Early Learning Centre next door to the site opened its doors in March this year. The social housing development that will create 36 new dwellings directly across the road at 955 Stranmore Boulevard was green lit by Albany council at its meeting later that month. Opinions can be submitted on the public comment section of the City of Albany website until May 18.
