Lower Great Southern Hockey Association sent four junior representative teams to the annual carnival in Narrogin at the weekend.

All four teams made the grand finals for their respective age groups, with the 5/6 girls going through undefeated, not conceding any goals for the entire carnival.

The 5/6 girls won their grand final 2- 0 against UGSHA Black in a dominant display.

Stella Gordon gave the team a great start by scoring in the first two minutes of the game from a penalty corner and Priscilla Smith also found the back of the net with a deflection off the post a few minutes later.

Zoe Mills was unlucky to convert her many attacking plays and Ziva Stan Bishop was steady in defence.

The 7/8 girls lost 3-0 to Modernians and the 7/8 boys lost 2-0 to YMCC, with all three teams finishing runner-up at the carnival.

Lower Great Southern Hockey development officer Dinah Gordon was very impressed with the results from the weekend.

“To have all four teams that we sent to the carnival make the grand finals, shows the depth of talent in our association and the commitment LGSHA have to our junior players,” she said.

“The players, coaches and managers should be proud of what they have achieved.”

The LGSHA also sent four teams away to the Fuel to Go & Play Club Championships in Perth during the school holidays.

In the 9/10 boys’ A-division, the LGSHA team had a fantastic week to finish third overall.

The 7/8 boys finished third in B-division, the 7/8 girls were third in C-division and the 9/10 girls’ side placed seventh in A-division.
