A beloved family pet has been taken from a home south of Perth in a brazen broad daylight theft which has sparked a manhunt by police.

“Poppy” the female American Staffy puppy was stolen from a home on Gloucester Street, Shoalwater about 12.40pm on Monday, June 30.

CCTV footage released by Rockingham police as part of their investigation shows a silver Toyota hatchback arriving outside of the property.

Two men get out of the car and walk up the driveway - they return to the vehicle a short time later with the puppy before getting back inside and taking-off.

An unknown person(s) arrived outside a house on Gloucester Street in a hatchback, walked up the driveway and stole a dog from the premises.

Police are urging anyone who recognises the men in the footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Reports can be made anonymously.
