Top seed Jannik Sinner has cruised into the last eight of the ATP Tour's European Open in Antwerp.

World No.13 Sinner won his meeting with fellow Italian young gun Lorenzo Musetti 7-5 6-2.

"It's never easy playing against him... We never practice together, so it was kind of a new match," 20-year-old Sinner said in his on-court interview.

"He's an incredible player, very, very young.

"He's a very great talent, so I hope we will have a couple of more matches on the pro tour, and obviously I'm very happy about my level today."

Musetti showcased his impressive shot-making to make it a battle in the opening set but the 19-year-old has not won consecutive matches on tour since reaching the fourth round at Roland Garros.

Sinner, who is 11th in the Race To Turin and making a late push to qualify for the ATP Finals on home soil, will continue that charge against Arthur Rinderknech in the last eight.

Frenchman Rinderknech upset Serbia eighth seed Dusan Lajovic 6-3 4-6 6-2 to advance.

American qualifier Jenson Brooksby dispatched Botic van de Zandschulp to reach the quarter-finals in fine style.

US Open quarter-finalist Van de Zandschulp has been in good form but was no match for the Brooksby, who romped to victory 6-2 6-0 in a little more than an hour.

"It's never as easy as the score looks sometimes, but I thought I started out well and I just felt strong today," Brooksby said in his on-court interview.

"I just didn't let up my focus at all and I think that showed."

Brooksby will face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the quarter-finals after the Spaniard overcame third-seeded Cristian Garin 4-6 6-3 6-3.
