A trio of forwards, including spearhead Matt Taberner, are a chance to bolster Fremantle’s attack against Collingwood on Sunday.

While captain Nat Fyfe (back) is set to receive a return to play date next week and defender Alex Pearce (ankle) faces a race against the clock.

Forwards Taberner (hamstring), Michael Walters (H&S protocols), and Sam Switkowski (concussion) have all been listed as tests ahead of Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round.

The trio would prove welcome returns for the Dockers, who kicked just four goals in their 36-point loss to Gold Coast.

A final decision will be made on the trio after main training on Thursday, with Walters set to exit isolation later this week while Taberner will be put through his paces after missing the last three games.

“The early signs are really good, and we have main training to come on Thursday, but we’re really confident that he (Switkowski) will be available,” Fremantle’s Executive General Manager of Football, Peter Bell, said.

“He (Taberner) is tracking really well, but we want to see how he comes through main training on Thursday.”

Key defender Alex Pearce will also be assessed later in the week after coming from the ground late against the Suns and applying ice to his troublesome ankle.

“He jagged his ankle, which he’s done a couple of times this year,” Bell said.

“It really depends on how it pulls up post-match, and the early signs are pretty positive.

“He’ll be really slow in the early part of the week, and then we’ll see what we’re dealing with in the latter part of the week before we make a decision.”

Fremantle are set to confirm Fyfe’s return date after the two-time Brownlow medallist reintegrated into parts of main training last week.

“Nat is tracking really well. He’s put together another good week, and hopefully, we’ll be in a position to put a return to play timeline out there publicly this time next week,” Bell said.

Winger Nathan O’Driscoll has suffered a stress fracture in his foot and will spend some time in a moon boot, while first-year midfielder Matthew Johnson is expected to make his Peel Thunder debut on Saturday after overcoming a pre-season ankle injury.
