The girls used fingerspelling to demonstrate the lyrics to the song in unison, reducing teammate Jamie Howell to tears.

Singing to the well-known tune the Sydney Swans use in the AFL, the group ended with “onwards, to victory” before swarming Howell as she stood in disbelief, struggling to hold back tears.

With 38 major handshapes in Auslan, the language of the deaf community in Australia, the effort to surprise Howell was clearly pre-orchestrated in a wonderful sign of inclusion and respect.

“Just a few hours of practice, with some help from Paul, our Auslan interpreter, 65 players across our squad learning the song... priceless,” Yeronga player Sam Virgo shared on twitter, alongside the hashtag #inclusion.

Social media users were quick to applaud the team for the initiative.

“What a thoughtful thing to do,” one wrote in reply to the video, which has more than 30,000 views on Twitter alone.

“Not gonna lie, I got a tiny bit misty-eyed at the end. My work team is on a journey to learn more Auslan, and it's been such a fun experience,” one wrote in response to Virgo.

“Now that’s a team,” another added on the AFLW’s share of the video.

“Has made my day!”

The heartwarming gesture has been widely applauded on Facebook as well as Twitter, with more than 110 shares on the club’s official Facebook page.

The classy move has been described as a magic moment, with the club receiving enormous praise for their brilliant culture.
