Collingwood star Adam Treloar has set the record straight, confirming he “would never” leave the Magpies to follow his fiancé and young daughter to Queensland.

Just hours after news broke his fiancé and ex-Australian netballer Kim Ravaillion had signed a one-year deal with the Queensland Firebirds, the AFL rumour mill went into overdrive with reports the Gold Coast Suns were interested in luring Treloar north.

Speaking on AFL360 tonight, Treloar slammed the rumours and the suggestion that he would abandon the club he is contracted to until the end of 2025.

“I’ve never considered going anywhere and I never would,” he said.

“Never in my mind have I ever floated playing for a different team.

“It’s like people talk to me like I’m a five, six, seven-year kid and I don’t know what I’m doing.

“We spoke about this for a long time.

“I’ve got no doubt there’s going to be challenges and there’ll be times I miss her dearly but I’m so excited. I’m so excited (the couple’s young daughter) Georgie gets to see her mum play professional sport, albeit in a different state.”

Ravaillion’s decision to uproot herself and young daughter Georgie to re-start her professional netball career has been met with mixed reactions.

But Treloar was quick to praise his future wife.

“She made a huge sacrifice for us as a family to start our family in the middle of her career,” he said.

“We chose obviously to have a child and she sacrificed her body for that.

“The sacrifice for me is something extremely small for her to be away and commit to 10 months of playing netball.

“The reality is we are both professional athletes.

“I can’t be more proud of Kim and the decisions she’s made. I love her to bits. I think it’s the best thing for our family going forward.”

Ravaillion will have the support of her mother in Queensland to help raise Georgie while Treloar remains in Victoria with Collingwood in 2021.

PIES VETERAN RETIRES

Collingwood have confirmed veteran Lynden Dunn has retired after 198 games.

Dunn played 33 games for the Magpies after crossing from Melbourne at the end of 2016.

His retirement comes just days after teammate Travis Varcoe announced 2020 was his last.

ADAMS TAKES HOME TOP PRIZE

Taylor Adams has claimed Collingwood’s best and fairest, the EW Copeland Trophy tonight.

The 27-year-old didn’t miss a match in 2020 and won the award with 100 votes - polling in all but three matches.

Scott Pendlebury finished runner up on 71 votes with Jack Crisp (63) edging defender Darcy Moore (62) for third.
