Telethon Kids Institute leading paediatrician and infectious diseases specialist Professor Jonathan Carapetis will join The West Live this morning ahead of WA’s much-loved fundraising event.

The countdown is on for Telethon 2020, which is expected to be like no other amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The event is also gearing up for its inaugural Telethon Family Festival at Optus Stadium, which is presented by Coles and will be held on Sunday, October 25 from 11am to 5pm.

With a background in infectious diseases, Professor Carapetis will also weigh in on the global pandemic and reveal the institute's role in the worldwide fight against COVID-19.

The Telethon Kids Institute will lead the study into the COVIGEN vaccine in WA, one of four locations chosen to take part in phase one trial of the new needle-free, gene-based vaccine.

Celebrity gardener Charlie Albone from Better Homes and Gardens will also join the podcast to provide expert landscaper tips from Australia’s top lifestyle show.
