AFL legend Brendan Fevola has given a colourful account of the Melbourne earthquake, telling how he his shaking holiday home interrupted his Playstation session and left his room rocking for the “first time in a while”.

The former Carlton player told how he was at his holiday home with his family when the magnitude 5.8 quake struck.

Fevola said it was when his session on war game Call of Duty was disturbed when he realised the shaking was much more serious.

“I’m sitting down the beach house… my daughter’s on the bed and I thought she was just jumping up and down on it,” he told Triple M Perth’s Breakfast with Basil, Xav & Jenna.

“I’m sitting here playing Call of Duty on the Playstation with my headphones on and my whole screen started shaking, my Playstation nearly fell off and I thought Jesus, that’s a bloody earthquake.”

His phone lit up with messages from his Melbourne mates who also felt the tremors, which have caused damage on Chapel Street, where bricks were seen falling from buildings.

Sharing the news to Instagram, he made light of the quake, telling how it had been the “first time my room has been rocking in a while” — a comment enjoyed by his sporting mates, including Aussie cricketer Mitchell Johnson.

But Fevola told Triple M it was the last thing the locked down city needed.

“Everyone’s messaging and saying what the hell’s just happened because what else can they throw at us?” he said.

“We’ve got COVID, we’ve been locked down for over 200 days, the protests yesterday and there’s choppers flying around everywhere, the street were rioting.

“We’d never think it was Australia, let alone Melbourne and then we’ve got an earthquake, so I don’t know what’s next but it’s quite scary.

“When the earth starts shaking, that’s when you start to sh*t yourself a bit!”

But all seems well again in the Fevola holiday home, with his children making a rare appearance “before 10 o’clock on holidays” and the AFL star able to return to his own holiday escapades.

“I panicked a little bit, it seems everything’s OK now. I’m back playing Playstation now so everything seems all right,” he said.
