Kununurra swimmers are back in the water, following the reopening of the Kununurra Leisure Centre’s main pool after almost six weeks.

The ageing 25m pool was closed on March 4 after lining from peel away from its shell, rendering the pool unsafe for swimming.

It came at a difficult time for Kununurra swimmers, who were in the midst of the swim season, children’s swimming lessons and training for the Lake Argyle Swim on May 1.

After significant repair works to the pool’s lining it was refilled early this month, with water test results sent to PathWest last week.

SWEK announced the reopening of the pool on Monday afternoon after receiving the all clear from the lab.
