Man, 43, charged after fatal crash in Kununurra

Police have charged a 43-year-old Kununurra man as a result of investigations into a fatal car crash that occurred in the Kimberley town in November last year.

Major Crash investigators alleged the man was the driver of a Nissan utility carrying five passengers that crashed on Valentine Spring Road around 10:40am on Saturday November 23, 2019.

A female passenger died at the scene while the four remaining passengers were taken to Kununurra Hospital.

It was further alleged the man left the scene of the crash prior to police arrival.

He was charged with three counts of failing to stop and ensure assistance was received after an incident occasioning grievous bodily harm, and one count of failing to report an incident occasioning death or grievous bodily harm.

He is due to appear before the Kununurra Magistrates Court on March 27.
