Which beach is the best in the Rockingham and Kwinana region?

It’s a question many believe they have the answer to, and rightly so, as there is no doubt some of WA’s best ocean spots are south of the river.

Just about every beach we searched had been rated above four stars, so the Sound Telegraph team sat down and came up with some categories and decided instead of trying to find the best, we would find the top three beaches you should visit this summer.

The first thing you notice about Rockingham beach is how family-friendly it is.

The soft sand curls around the beach, giving you plenty of space to warm up your toes and make sandcastles as big as your heart desires.

Paddleboarding is a must when you visit, as the water is so calm you could lie on an inflatable lounge all day and never float away.

Crowds will be high at peak times throughout the school holidays, but the park alongside the ocean extends the length of the foreshore and is packed with amenities such as barbecues, public toilets and playgrounds.

Just be prepared to have to search for a parking spot as there are limited numbers available, and with a beach this beautiful, you won’t want to miss out.

Point Peron beach

If you’re looking for a secluded spot to soak up the sun, Point Peron is the perfect place for you.

Nestled away at the tip of the Cape, you can have an almost empty beach all to yourself.

The sand curves around, giving you enough room to lie on the beach, go for a snorkel, or have a game of beach cricket.

There are no toilet amenities here, but during the day you’ll find a coffee or ice-cream van in the carpark to help curb any food or drink cravings you might have.

The ocean might not be as calm as at Rockingham beach, but it is still calm enough for the little ones to have a play in the water.

Kwinana beach

A combination of seclusion and a long stretch of sand, Kwinana beach offers the best of both worlds for all ocean lovers.

For fishers, you can throw a line off the jetty and try your luck to catch the many fish swimming around the ocean’s edge while loved ones wade in the water further along the shore.

Wells Park is located alongside the water, making the spot a family beachside paradise for playing and swimming the day away this summer.
