La Fiamma Sporting Club will host a special veterans’ game in April as the curtain-raiser for a men’s mental health fundraiser.

An over-40s La Fiamma ‘Dream Team’ has been assembled to play the Geraldton All Stars in an effort to raise money for Beyond Blue.

The Dream Team will wear a unique jersey that mixes the club’s traditional kit with the blue tree that has become synonymous with mental wellbeing.

The All Stars will don a jersey that has been designed with the remaining Geraldton club’s logos all combined together.

Organiser Lachlan Gray said La Fiamma was one club that had been touched by the devastating conseqeuences of depression.

“My uncle passed to mental health going on ten years ago,” he said.

“Losing someone that was such a big part of the club was a big shock.

“It made a lot of people rethink about not speaking up.

The veterans match will be followed by games from the La Fiamma Perth amateur’s sides as their season opener, with an exact date for the fixture to soon be confirmed by Football West.
