Buzz is building as the announcement of this year’s Star Business Person of the Year approaches.

The award is presented as part of the South West Business Excellence Awards, organised each year by BSW Connect to celebrate and recognise the achievements of the region’s business community.

BSW Connect awards program co-ordinator and deputy chair Robyn Morris said there were 31 finalists across 20 categories in this year’s awards.

“The BSW Connect coordination team was again delighted with the level of interest shown by the South West business community in the 2020 Awards with many award categories being tightly contested and several very high calibre applications received for Star Business Person of the Year,” Dr Morris said.

South West Development Commission is sponsoring the Star Business Person of the Year award this year. South West Development Commission CEO Melissa Teede said the awards program helped the region to maintain and increase its competitive edge by giving participants a chance to benchmark their performance against other successful enterprises.

“The South West is home to many outstanding businesses, and the South West Business Excellence Awards serves as a great platform for giving these businesses some well-deserved recognition,” Ms Teede said.

We are well aware of the skills and capabilities of local businesses — and think it is fantastic to see some of these businesses receive formal recognition for their achievements.
