Out-of-control blaze in Bindoon threatens lives, homes northeast of Perth

Lives and homes in Bindoon are being threatened by an out-of-control bushfire, prompting an emergency alert.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said the blaze was reported at 1.45pm on Friday and started near Gray Road.

The emergency warning applies to people in the area bounded by Hidaway Drive to the east, Forrest Hills Parade to the south, Teatree Road to the west and Mooliabeenee Road to the north.

DFES said the bushfire was moving in a westerly direction and was unpredictable.

Firefighters are on the scene, backed by aerial support, and an evacuation centre has been set up at Bindoon Town Hall.

A watch and act alert is in place for people bounded by Grey Road to the south, Wowra Drive to the west, Mooliabeenee Road to the north and Teatree Road to the east in parts of Lennard Brook, Moondah, Mooliabeenee and Bindoon.
