Hedland Netball’s Spectres moved closer to the top of the A grade table with a 48-27 victory over the Illusions at Faye Gladstone courts on Tuesday.

The action resumed in round ten after a two week spell during school holidays.

The Spectres were in need of a win to stand any chance of catching the ladder leading Eagles who started the evening six points clear on top.

Strong performances from Kate Evans and Dana Bell propelled the Spectres over the line in a comfortable display.

An 18 point upset victory by the Dragons over the Eagles was enough to shake up the division.

The Dragons were leading 22-15 at half time but came out firing in the second half, only allowing the opposition eight more points for the match.

Stingy defending by goal defence Rebekah Mullen and efficient play from Helena Dijagween helped secure the 41-25 upset.

In b division the Spectres got on top of the Dragons 43-33 to secure their dominant six point lead atop the ladder.

The Lynx defeated the Eagles 52-19 and the Illusions brushed past the PHADS 51-30 in the other b grade clashes.

Among the umpires for round 10’s fixtures was Jess Ranfield, who recently achieved her B grade badge in umpiring, the only netball official in Hedland to do so.
