Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred along Great Northern Highway near Boodarie on Saturday night.

At about 7pm, a white Toyota Hilux travelling south on Great Northern Highway near Powell Raod collided with a white and yellow Kenworth road train travelling in the opposite direction.

Both vehicles caught fire after the incident.

The 48-year-old male driver of the Hilux received critical injuries in the crash and died at the scene.

The 49-year-old male driver of the road train was not injured.

Major Crash Investigators wish to speak to anyone who saw the crash or either vehicle travelling in the area prior to the crash.
