The hard work of three young photographers over the past year has resulted in a collection of more than 100 images, which will be on display in an exhibition titled D’Entrecasteaux Coast.

The exhibition will be held at the Painted Tree Gallery in Northcliffe from October 4 to 27, with all images on display taken within the national park.

Georgia Clifford, of Northcliffe, and Cameron Smith and Sam Pitts, of Pemberton, have all entered their images.

This will be the first youth photography exhibition organised by the Southern Forests Photography Club and club president Wendy Eiby said for members exhibiting images it was part of the growth process in photography.

“It is a big step to put your images on display for public scrutiny and we usually have more than 500 visitors a week pass through the Painted Tree Gallery during exhibitions at this time of year,” she said.

“Our youth photography members have a different view on life in the Shire of Manjimup to us adults and we need to ensure their voice is heard through their visual storytelling in their images.”

Mrs Eiby said photography was a great hobby for youth to get involved in.

“Art is a way youth can participate in our communities, particularly if they are not interested in sport,” she said.

“I think visitors will enjoy the variety of images and the quality of the work our young members have submitted to the exhibition.”

Manjimup shire deputy president Cliff Winfield will officially open the exhibition on Friday from 5pm.

Mr Winfield will give a talk on D’Entrecasteaux National Park based on his experiences at the Department of Conservation and Land Management.
