After more than seven years, senior journalist Tari Jeffers will be leaving the Manjimup-Bridgetown Times.

Jeffers joined the Times team in September 2013 and on November 24 will move to Newman to take up a local government position.

During her time in Manjimup, Jeffers has served as the secretary and later president of the Manjimup Apex Club, was on the netball association committee and starred in several Manjimup Repertory Club productions.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Manjimup and made so many incredible friends,” she said.

“I have learnt so much about about myself as a person and a professional during my time at the newspaper.

“I have interviewed some of the most interesting people and covered some extraordinary stories.”

Jeffers thanked everyone who had provided her with a story or those she had interviewed.

Over the years Jeffers has covered a variety of topics, including the O’Sullivan bushfire, the Manjimup Town Centre Revitalisation Project, the 2013 opening of the then-named Manjimup Timber and Heritage Park and the 2018 Lake Muir earthquake.

“My favourite kind of stories have always been the ones that help provide a platform for community or volunteer groups’ projects, campaigns or successes,” she said.

“One of my passions is promoting volunteer emergency services and all the work these volunteers do for the community.

“The Manjimup-Bridgetown Times has always strived to support the community and I hope people feel I’ve done that too, even if just in a small way.”
