Police have charged a 20-year-old man over an alleged spate of home burglaries across the suburbs of Geraldton last month.

Damien Robert Parfitt appeared in Geraldton Magistrate’s Court on Thursday facing 17 charges stemming from seven burglaries over a four-day period.

It is alleged that between April 26 and 30, Mr Parfitt broke into and stole items from homes in Tarcoola Beach, Strathalbyn, Cape Burney and Bluff Point, including two vehicles.

One of the vehicles, allegedly stolen from a Bluff Point home in the early hours of April 30, was found at 4am later that day ablaze at Levy Street Park in Spalding.

His lawyer, Veronica Randell, told the court police had informed her further charges against her client were pending and requested that the matter be adjourned to a later date.

Magistrate Andrew Maughan adjourned it until May 21.

Mr Parfitt is yet to enter pleas to the charges.

No bail application was put forward, and the man was remanded into custody at Greenough Regional Prison ahead of his next court date.

A 15-year-old boy was charged alongside Mr Parfitt over two aggravated home burglaries in one night on April 30 and will appear in the Children’s Court next week.
