One of the oldest Surf Life Saving clubs in WA is holding its registration day for summer this weekend.

Geraldton Surf Life Saving Club is hoping for new members to join its summer program, which includes nippers and competitive events.

Surf lifesaver Callum Illich said the club would be participating in the Mid West Surf Lifesaving Squad for a second year.

“It is focused on co-operation between the Mid West clubs to develop competitive surf lifesaving skills and increase Mid West presence at competitions, and create a social (regional) community,” Illich said.

The club will be offering the Starfish Nipper program for people with a disability this season, along with its other nippers programs.

A six-week trial of Starfish Nippers is due to start on November 7, with an induction night on October 19.

Other nippers divisions at Geraldton and Champion Bay will start on October 31.

Geraldton competitors brought home sev-eral medals from last season’s Surf Life Saving WA Country Championships.

About 10 competitors from the Mid West squad travelled to compete. Patterson Andrews won the gold in the flags and sprint, while Hamish Sojan claimed bronze in the 2km run, swim and Ironman.

Spence Sojan came fourth in the sprint and Ironman.

Registration day is on Sunday. Details are on social media or at geraldtonslsc.com.au.
