Police have recovered the body of an elderly man who was reported missing while crabbing in Bicton late Saturday night.

The 70-year-old man had been crabbing at Point Walter Reserve with family and friends when the group went in separate ways in the water.

He was last seen by the group about 9.30pm and was reported missing about 11.35pm, when his family realised they could no longer see him.

Several search assets were deployed including water police and the police air wing, and the body of a deceased man, believed to be the missing 70-year-old, was found in the water opposite Blackwall Reach Parade, south of the Blackwall Reach Cliffs, about 6am on Sunday.

The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner by police.
