A blaze that started in the garage of a Bennett Springs home is believed to have been caused by solar panel batteries.

Firefighters responded to a triple-0 call from neighbours to the Ranthus Avenue home about 12.15pm when they saw black smoke billowing from the property.

It took about an hour to extinguish the blaze.

It is understood batteries for solar panels caused the fire, which spread into the home’s roof space.

Everyone inside the home was accounted for.
