Vic woman accused of murdering elderly man

A woman has been charged with murdering an 87-year-old man in Melbourne's north.

Konstantinos Kritikos was found in his Reynard Street home at Coburg on November 11 last year. He died from his injuries almost two weeks later, on November 24.

Police last month described him as "a man of impeccable character, much loved, who's worked hard, paid his taxes, contributed to society his whole life".

They said Mr Kritikos lay seriously injured after he was attacked and had been home alone, with his wife in hospital at the time.

Detectives on Tuesday charged Danielle Birchall, 45, with his murder.

The matter was briefly mentioned in Melbourne Magistrates Court and Birchall is due to reappear in court on July 27.
