A man has been arrested after a tense one-hour stand-off with the police on top of a Cloverdale house last night.

It’s understood the man led police on a short pursuit before crashing his blue Mitsubishi into a brick fence on Epsom Avenue at about 2am.

Police say the man then fled the scene on foot and climbed on top of the roof of a nearby house.

His passengers, two men and one woman, remained in the car while the stand-off took place. The woman was also taken to hospital.

It’s understood it took police about an hour to negotiate with the man and get him down from the roof.
