LATEST COVID-19 DEVELOPMENTS:

* Two new COVID-19 deaths were recorded in NSW on Monday - a woman in her 80s who died in Pendle Hill and a man in his 80s who died at Campbelltown Hospital - bringing the total number of deaths from the current outbreak to 10.

* NSW recorded 145 new cases of COVID-19, with at least half in the community while infectious.

* The NSW crisis cabinet met on Monday to devise a strategy to deal with the evolving crisis and begin workshopping the restrictions to remain in place in Sydney over the coming months, as the city's lockdown is scheduled to end on Friday.

* Victorian authorities will take an extra day to consider whether the state's lockdown will lift on time, after all 11 new cases recorded on Monday were linked to existing outbreaks and in quarantine during their infectious period.

* Western Australia is on high alert after a ship arrived in waters off Perth with eight crew members showing flu-like symptoms. Three crew will be hospitalised and the remaining 17 will undergo testing at the port under strict protocols.

* Parts of Queensland are also on alert after a man tested positive after being released from hotel quarantine following a trip to China, however it's not yet known if the man was infected overseas, in hotel quarantine in Brisbane, or on the Gold Coast, where he lives.

* South Australia is likely to end its week-long COVID-19 lockdown on time on Tuesday, after reporting one new virus infection linked to the Modbury cluster.

* Five people were arrested and eight fined after being found at a house party in Adelaide in breach of COVID-19 rules.

* The Northern Territory's chief minister has raised concerns the Commonwealth may be sending Pfizer vaccines promised to other jurisdictions to NSW and questioned where the extra doses had come from.

* NT residents returning home from interstate COVID-19 hotspots will now be allowed to quarantine at home to help reduce the number of people staying at the Alice Springs quarantine facility, which is nearing capacity.

* Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg again rejected calls for the JobKeeper wage subsidy to be reinstated, but said the government's policies "are never set and forget".

* Human Rights Watch has urged Australia to follow the US in supporting a waiver on vaccine patents at the World Trade Organisation to ensure faster and fairer access for low-income nations.

AUSTRALIAN VACCINATION NUMBERS:

* There have been 11,211,447 doses administered in the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout up to Monday, including 70,936 in the previous 24 hours.

* Of the total, 6,307,043 have been administered by the Commonwealth (an increase of 21,349 in the previous 24 hours).

* 5,805,973 have been issued in primary care (+20,755) and 501,070 in aged and disability facilities (+594).

* 4,904,404 have been administered by the states and territories, including 49,587 in the previous 24 hours.

*1,529,832 have been administered in Victoria (+15,553), 1,345,647 in NSW (+15,448), 852,186 in Queensland (+3491), 454,605 in Western Australia (+6214), 359,483 in South Australia (+4465), 153,453 in Tasmania (+2,001), 125,189 in the ACT (+2056 ) and 84,009 in the NT (+359).

AUSTRALIAN CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Australia reported 158 local cases on Monday, July 26.

* There were 8 new overseas-acquired cases in hotel quarantine.

* The national death toll is 920: Victoria 820, NSW 66, Tasmania 13, WA 9, Queensland 7, SA 4, ACT 3. (Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states).

GLOBAL CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Cases: at least 194,123,828

* Deaths: at least 4,158,692

* Vaccine doses administered: at least 3,845,006,345.
