City Farmers Busselton is one of 39 stores across WA selling Christmas tree decorations for the Tree of Hope appeal to aid the survival of animals across Western Australia.

Tree of Hope is an annual fundraiser by the Petbarn Foundation, and this year the charity aims to raise $1.2 million.

City Farmers Busselton store manager David Stannard said each year he was amazed by his customers’ generosity and their support for the initiative. “At a time when community kindness is more important than ever, we are incredibly proud to be supporting this year’s Tree of Hope Appeal,” Mr Stannard said.

“This small act of kindness goes such a long way in giving animals the love and care they deserve.”

For each decoration bought, the Petbarn Foundation will make a donation to City Farmers’ WA adoption partners and rescue organisations.

The Animal Protection Society of WA is one of the charities which will benefit, and president Melanie Jackson said this year was important after they had to cancel all their fundraising events because of COVID-19.

“We don’t ever want to be in a position where we have to say no to an animal in need. Petbarn’s support will assist us in providing an option for the homeless animals who need us,” she said.

All funds raised will help more than 50 charities continue caring for animals in need. The appeal will run until December 27.
