The Great Southern is well represented in this year’s Keep Australia Beautiful Council’s Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Awards with Albany, Kojonup and Wellstead named finalists for the State title.

Taking out a spot in three of the eight categories, Albany is in the running for the Young Legends, Heritage and Culture, and Community Action and Wellbeing awards.

Keep Australia Beautiful Council chairman Michael Aspinall said the judges had a difficult job narrowing the field.

“Every community taking part can feel proud of helping make our State even more beautiful and for promoting positive environmental, social and economic changes that led to a more sustainable future for their community,” he said.

Kojonup and Wellstead were announced as finalists in the Environmental Sustainability, Environmental Education and General Appearance categories.
