Albany Town Hall will come alive with the smooth sounds of swing this weekend.

Swing Into Summer with The Hep Shakers Showband will feature six vocalists at Albany Town Hall from 7pm on Saturday.

Local trio The Bluebirds — Sally Bishop, Meghan McNally and Kat Tweddle — will cover jazz standards, contemporary tunes, soul and Motown hits.

Meeting each other through their daughters at primary school, the Albany mothers started the trio after catching up over a bottle of wine and discovering they shared a love of jazz.

The show will also star Heidi Marques, Julia Anwar and Gray Williamson, backed by The Hep Shakers Showband.

Newly formed The Hep Shakers Showband consists of members from the Rainbow Coast Big Band, including piano player Adrian Kenyon.

With an extensive musical career, Kenyon was WA’s first State jazz co-ordinator.

He moved to Albany in 2017, where he ended up creating the RCBB with fellow musician Dave Rastrick in February 2018.

Kenyon will be joined by guitarist Ross Dwyer, bass player Grant Moulden, Jack Harrison on drums and Pleun Hitzert on tenor sax.

Doors open at 6.30pm with refreshments provided at a cash bar.
