Apartment living is growing in popularity in Perth, with fantastic apartment projects emerging in and around the city in areas such as Claremont, Mount Pleasant, Mount Lawley and, of course, South Perth.

One fantastic South Perth apartment project that has recently been recognised on the national stage is Echelon by Giorgi. The development won an award at the UDIA National Awards for Excellence 2021 in the Medium Density Development category.

Each year, the UDIA National Awards for Excellence recognises the very best development projects across the country, with nominees made up of the winning projects from each respective state’s award program.

Echelon won against some very stiff interstate competition, including impressive projects in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The judges noted that Echelon is the “epitome of style and elegance, providing a landmark building at the entry to South Perth”.

The building not only looks impressive, the team behind the development implemented several new and innovative building and construction methods that will benefit end users.

The landmark building provides 12 luxury residences, office space and a ground-floor restaurant. Each level of the residential building contains two apartments which are mirrored in plan, with the two penthouses being afforded 4.4m high ceilings to the living and dining.

The impressive building is hard to miss, as it is a unique entry statement to the revamped South Perth precinct.

The building is predominantly a glass box that sits on a metallic plinth. Over the glass box sits a geometric concrete exoskeleton, which instantly creates an artistic form that is very striking.

Around the double street frontage, the footpath awning has been created by a local artist to depict movement and interest, especially at night when it is backlit.

This type of quality medium-density development is a showcase for what can be achieved as Perth continues to evolve into a more cosmopolitan city.

Buyers are increasingly seeking opportunities to downsize in their local area without compromising on their lifestyle.

It is also important that as our household sizes continue to decrease, we are providing a range of housing options to suit different needs.

Echelon has certainly proven to be very popular with those looking for elegance, with all the amenities and services that come with it.

I once again offer my congratulations to Giorgi and the Echelon team for being recognised by such a prestigious national award.
