No one knows that the Parata boys are still in Summer Bay so Mackenzie is shocked to find they were stopped at the border.

And of course the conversation takes place at Salt while Colby and Bella are eating breakfast and it sets a rather interesting tone for the rest of the episode. Like the first hint of Colby’s imminent downfall.

Colby makes another dig at the Paratas to reaffirm his personal vendetta with them.

“I don’t want you seeing that boy anymore,” Colby tells Bella.

“He’s my friend and he’s going through a tough time so bad luck,” Bella says. This new and improved back from horse camp Bella is actually pretty great and she’s losing trust in Colby pretty fast.

Mac also weighs in since she’s already pledged her allegiance to the Paratas.

“What’s your deal,” Mac says.

But the reprise is short.

Colby is basically a shape shifter at this stage, lurking around in the background and showing his smug face at any given moment and it’s riling me up. But his fall from grace (no pun intended) will come and it will be sweet.

The Paratas are $500 short for their rent repayment, and now Colby knows.

Bella pays Nikau a visit but he isn’t in the mood to entertain guests and rather aggressively tells her to go away.

But she doesn’t. She patiently sits outside his door and talks about how important closure was for her when her mum died and Colby took that away from him.

“I’m so sorry for what Colby’s done,” Bella says.

“Sometimes he can be such an idiot.”

Nik has been keeping to himself but surely it won’t be long until he implodes and has to tell someone about the baby stealing.

The whole family is still very unsettled about not being able to put Mikaere to rest and come up with their own way of paying their respects given the circumstances.

The Parata boys go down to the beach to honour Mikaere. They stare into the ocean before they perform the haka.

Maggie and Ben are feverishly exciting about moving to Italy.

Ziggy is also thrilled. But her parents are leaving tomorrow afternoon for “the other side of the planet” and the excitement soon shifts to pure shock and she starts crying.

Ziggy is “stoked” but it’s a lot for her to process on such short notice and she’s worried about what happens if she wants a home cooked dinner of all things instead of taking advantage of the potential holidays and “sipping wine in Roman piazzas” with her parents.

But Maggie soon smooths it over and offers the house to her and Dean and she goes back to being stoked. And who wouldn’t be with mates rates rent and the beach right there?
