Photographer Jamie Fawcett in new AVO drama

Sydney paparazzo Jamie Fawcett has been slapped with an interim AVO by police for his wife Anne. Here’s what unfolded. She joins a list of famous people including Nicole Kidman and Spice Girl Mel B who have previously been granted AVOs against the controversial photographer. The matter was mentioned at Newtown Local Court on Monday. Mr Fawcett was not present in court when the order was made. Orders stated Mr Fawcett must not assault or threaten, stalk, harass or intimidate Mrs Fawcett or intentionally or recklessly destroy or damage any property that belongs to or is in her possession. The case is listed for mention at Newtown on March 16. Mr Fawcett is not facing any criminal charges. Arguably Australia’s highest profile paparazzi photographer, Mr Fawcett has often found himself in the headlines. Actor Nicole Kidman took out an AVO against him in 2007 after an alleged car chase incident and later accused the photographer of planting a bugging device outside her home. The matter was settled out of court and no charges were brought against Mr Fawcett. Kidman later appeared as a witness in a defamation case against Fawcett. Five years later, then X Factor judge Mel B was granted an AVO against Fawcett, preventing the snapper from loitering within 50m of the singer or approaching within five metres of her. Mel B and ex-husband Stephan Belafonte took action against Fawcett after an incident while they were kayaking in Sydney Harbour. Mr Fawcett fought the allegation that he placed the couple in danger or that he made death threats against them. The matter was later dismissed after Mel B failed to meet a deadline to file evidence in support of the AVO. In 2014, Fawcett caught the attention of then visiting American pop singer, Katy Perry. The singer took to Twitter to detail her dealings with Fawcett at Sydney’s Obelisk beach in which she called him a “true sicko for taking pictures of us while being naked”. In October, Confidential revealed Fawcett was working as an Uber driver on the side.
